Sts. Anthony the Great and Anthony of Padua

Saint Anthony the Great

This Saint Anthony has several name descriptors - St. Anthony the Great, of the desert, of Egypt, the Abbot.

I think this saint is important for this class because of the First Commandment. He loved God so much that he gave away everything and went into the sesert to just be with God. This is a prime example of putting God first.

St Anthony the Great on Wikipedia - has a lot more information. Good to read before class.

Saint Anthony of Padua

San Antonio is named for Saint Anthony of Padua. There used to be a statue of him on the Riverwalk. I am not sure if it is still there - they were doing construction on that part of the Riverwalk last time I was there.

St. Anthony of Padua from the Book of Saints - talks about how he saw Baby Jesus
St. Anthony of Padua from Picture Book of Saints (same as above almost)
St. Anthony of Padua - also mentions his vision of Jesus
